TripSplit Terms of Service

Article 1 (Purpose)

These Terms of Service establish the rights, obligations, and responsibilities between TripSplit (hereinafter referred to as the "Company") and users regarding the use of the TripSplit application and related services (hereinafter referred to as the "Service").

Article 2 (Definitions)

  • "Service" refers to the TripSplit application and related features provided by the Company.
  • "User" refers to any individual who uses the Service according to these Terms.
  • "Content" refers to all data and information created, stored, and processed within the Service.

Article 3 (Effect and Amendment of Terms)

  • These Terms apply to all users who wish to use the Service.
  • The Company may amend these Terms due to changes in relevant laws, service modifications, or other reasons.
  • When amending the Terms, the Company will announce the changes and their effective date in the Service's announcements section at least 7 days before the effective date.
  • If users do not agree with the amended Terms, they may discontinue using the Service and withdraw. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of the amended Terms will be considered acceptance of the changes.

Article 4 (Provision and Modification of Services)

1. The Company provides the following services:

  • Expense recording and management
  • Trip settlement calculation and management
  • Multi-currency conversion and calculation
  • Receipt scanning and analysis
  • Other services developed by the Company

2. The Company may modify the content of the Service for quality improvement, technical necessity, or operational needs.

3. The Company will provide advance notice in case of service interruption, modification, or updates. However, in case of emergency, notice may be provided after the fact.

Article 5 (Service Fees and Payment)

1. Basic services are provided free of charge.

2. Premium features are provided through a one-time purchase model:

Premium Purchase

  • Payment method: One-time purchase
  • Price: $14.99 (one-time payment)
  • License validity: Permanent (tied to user's Apple ID or Google account)
  • Premium features: Unlimited receipt scanning, automatic language translation, multi-language UI support, calendar view, Excel file export functionality, etc.

3. One-time purchase services are provided under the following conditions:

  • Premium features are permanently activated after purchase.
  • No recurring charges or automatic renewal fees.
  • Premium features remain accessible even after app reinstallation (restoration possible through Apple ID or Google account).
  • Premium features are linked to the purchasing account and accessible across devices logged into the same account.
  • Premium features purchased on one platform (iOS/Android) are not transferable to other platforms.

4. Payments are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, and payment information is handled according to the policies of these platforms.

5. Refunds are processed according to the refund policies of the App Store or Google Play Store. Generally, refunds may be requested within 14-15 days of purchase in accordance with each platform's policy.

6. The Company does not provide direct refund processing for purchases made through the App Store or Google Play Store. Users should contact Apple or Google directly for refund requests.

Article 6 (Protection of Personal Information)

The Company does its best to protect users' personal information, and matters concerning the processing of personal information are governed by a separate 'Privacy Policy'.

Article 7 (User Obligations)

1. Users must not engage in the following activities:

  • Using the Service for illegal purposes
  • Unauthorized collection, storage, or disclosure of others' personal information
  • Actions that interfere with the Service
  • Actions that infringe on intellectual property rights
  • Other actions that violate relevant laws

2. Users are responsible for providing the devices and environment necessary for using the Service.

3. Users may not transfer, sell, or share their premium purchase license with third parties.

Article 8 (Company Obligations)

  • The Company strives to provide stable services.
  • The Company establishes security systems and makes efforts to protect personal information so that users can use the Service safely.
  • The Company establishes procedures to handle user complaints or opinions related to Service use.
  • The Company will maintain premium features for purchased users without additional charges.

Article 9 (Copyright and Intellectual Property Rights)

  • The copyright and intellectual property rights to content provided within the Service belong to the Company.
  • Users must not reproduce, transmit, publish, distribute, broadcast, or otherwise use for commercial purposes, or allow third parties to use, information obtained through the Company's Service without prior approval.

Article 10 (Disclaimer)

  • The Company is not responsible for service provision in cases where it cannot provide the Service due to force majeure reasons such as natural disasters, war, suspension of telecommunications service providers, or technical defects.
  • The Company is not responsible for service use impediments or damages caused by user's fault.
  • The Company is not responsible for information obtained by users through the Service or transactions made between users through the Service.
  • While the Company strives to maintain premium features permanently, technical limitations, platform policy changes, or other unavoidable circumstances may affect service availability.

Article 11 (Data Management and Backup)

  • All data within the Service is stored on the user's device, and the Company does not separately store user data on its servers except for receipt images that are temporarily stored for analysis purposes and deleted within 24 hours.
  • Premium users can use enhanced data management features including export functionality. Users are responsible for managing their own data.
  • The Company is not responsible for data loss due to device changes, app deletion, app data deletion, etc.

Article 12 (Service Continuity)

  • Premium purchases provide permanent access to premium features during the operational period of the Service.
  • In the event of service discontinuation, the Company will provide at least 30 days advance notice to users.
  • Premium feature access is tied to the continued operation of the underlying Service and app store availability.

Article 13 (Governing Law and Jurisdiction)

  • These Terms are governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Korea.
  • For lawsuits filed regarding disputes arising from the use of the Service, the court having jurisdiction shall be determined according to the Code of Civil Procedure.

Article 14 (Miscellaneous)

Matters not specified in these Terms shall be governed by relevant laws and Company policies.
